T&T Group expands wind power cluster in Laos with Savan 2 project

T&T Group and Vinacom Investment and Trading Company have signed a cooperation agreement to develop the Savan 2 wind power project in Savannakhet province, Laos. The project has a design capacity of 495 MW and an estimated total investment of $768 million. It is expected to begin commercial operations by the end of 2028.

This new project will form a continuous wind power cluster alongside the Savan 1 project. Savan 1, which has a capacity of 300 MW, officially commenced commercial operations in late December 2025. Savan 1 provides approximately 0.9 billion kWh of electricity annually to Vietnam, utilizing a dedicated 70 km transmission system connected via the Lao Bao substation in Quang Tri province.

The development of these projects aims to bolster energy security in Vietnam and supports bilateral agreements between the Vietnamese and Lao governments regarding electricity imports.
