Tu B'Av Global Speed-Dating Event Draws Over 10,000 Jewish Singles
More than 10,000 Jewish singles from around the world are expected to join an online speed‑dating event on July 29, scheduled around the Tu B'Av holiday. Organized by Partners in Torah, Aish and CoronaCrush in cooperation with over 100 Jewish organizations across six continents, participants complete a detailed questionnaire and are matched for up to seven brief video dates during the evening.
The initiative, billed as the world’s largest speed‑dating event, builds on last year’s 6,750 participants and 15,463 video dates, which produced dozens of ongoing relationships and at least three marriages. Organizers say improved matching algorithms and participant feedback have enhanced the experience.
At the same time, community members in Lakewood are using the holiday to solicit ideas for addressing the broader shidduch (matchmaking) crisis, inviting readers to share practical suggestions, resources and encouragement in the comments of a local news forum.
