TU Chemnitz receives €5 million for carbon fiber research

The German federal government is providing an additional five million euro subsidy to the Carbon Labfactory in Boxberg, Lusatia. This funding supports researchers at TU Chemnitz in their efforts to advance the production and recycling processes of carbon fibers.

Through the ‘Innocarbenergyplus’ project, scientists aim to develop energy-efficient and resource-saving manufacturing technologies. These innovations are intended to create lightweight components for sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and construction, ultimately helping to reduce fuel consumption. The facility is designed to research the entire value chain, from raw materials to finished high-performance structural components.
