Tuas Power to build hydrogen-ready power plant in Singapore
Tuas Power has secured the rights to develop, own, and operate a new 670 MW hydrogen-ready combined cycle gas turbine power plant in Singapore. The facility is expected to become operational by December 2031.
The new plant is projected to generate enough electricity annually to power approximately 1.2 million HDB flats. According to the Energy Market Authority, this development is part of a broader trend where five hydrogen-ready combined cycle gas turbines are expected to be in use or under development in Singapore by 2031.
This move comes as Singapore anticipates a rapid increase in electricity demand driven by robust economic growth, the electrification of the transport sector, semiconductor manufacturing, and the expansion of data centers.
