Tuğberk İmamoğlu shipwreck: Black box recovered as search continues

Prime Minister Üstel has announced that search operations following a maritime disaster are ongoing, though no additional bodies have been found inside the Tuğberk İmamoğlu vessel. While one body was recovered last week under difficult conditions, technical teams have thoroughly scanned every section of the ship, including all compartments and seating areas, without locating further remains.

The ship's Voyage Data Recorder (VDR), or black box, has been recovered and handed over to the police for investigation. Search efforts involving the TCG Işın, TCG Alemdar, and the Prime Deep Sea vessel continue across air, land, and sea to locate missing individuals.

In response to the ongoing crisis, families of the missing sailors, represented by the Platform of Families of Those Who Lost Their Lives in Maritime Accidents, are demanding greater transparency. They have called for the release of all wreckage data, including ROV observation reports, sonar data, and 3D modeling results. The families are also requesting the formation of an independent technical committee composed of experts in shipbuilding and marine rescue to evaluate the search and rescue and investigation processes.
