Tuchola County officials summoned over fire department subsidies

Investigators are examining the allocation and use of subsidies from the Justice Fund for Volunteer Fire Departments (OSP) in Tuchola County. The probe focuses on non-competitive grants awarded in 2019 intended for equipping fire units.

As part of the investigation, several individuals have been summoned for questioning as witnesses, including local mayors from the Kęsowo and Śliwice municipalities, representatives from five local OSP units, and the District Commander of the State Fire Service in Tuchola. The proceedings are being conducted by the Bydgoszcz Provincial Police Command with assistance from the Świecie District Police.

Local officials have expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation. Daniel Kożuch, the mayor of Śliwice, criticized the actions of law enforcement, describing the summons as a “parody” and suggesting the proceedings may be politically motivated, while maintaining that all subsidies were used for the benefit of residents and firefighter safety.
