Tucker Carlson alleges Donald Trump ordered Epstein file cover-up

Tucker Carlson, a former ally of Donald Trump, has alleged that the president personally ordered a cover-up of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Carlson claimed that during the summer of 2025, he confronted Trump about the secrecy surrounding the files, stating he did not understand the need to withhold information or ‘cover for Epstein.’

According to Carlson, Trump provided a ‘very emotional explanation’ for the decision, characterizing the Epstein controversy as a political plot against him similar to ‘Russiagate.’

The allegations follow a period of intense political pressure from both parties, which eventually led to the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. This legislation required the Department of Justice to publish the records. While Trump’s name appears frequently within the millions of documents, he has not been accused of criminal wrongdoing regarding the financier and has repeatedly denied any misconduct related to his past relationship with Epstein.
