Tucker Carlson calls for removal of president considering nuclear weapon use

Tucker Carlson has stated that any U.S. president who actively considers the first use of nuclear weapons should be removed from office immediately. During a discussion on The Tucker Carlson Show with former National Counterterrorism Center director Joe Kent, Carlson argued that while he previously opposed Donald Trump’s impeachments, the consideration of nuclear strikes represents a fundamental red line that would render a leader unfit.

The comments follow concerns regarding escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. Carlson suggested that Trump’s past rhetoric regarding the potential destruction of Iranian civilization could be interpreted as an implicit nuclear threat. Joe Kent echoed these concerns, warning that the pursuit of regime change in Iran could narrow conventional military options and increase pressure to utilize nuclear weapons.

This debate occurs as the Pentagon reviews its nuclear strategy. Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby stated the review aims to provide the president with ‘credible, rational nuclear options’ to strengthen deterrence and stability, including the examination of shorter-range, lower-yield tactical nuclear weapons.
