Tucker Carlson calls for Trump removal over nuclear weapon considerations
Conservative podcaster Tucker Carlson has stated that President Donald Trump should be removed from office immediately if he considers the use of nuclear weapons as a first option. Carlson argued that actively contemplating a first-strike nuclear attack should serve as a ‘red line’ due to the potential for destroying humanity.
During a conversation with Joe Kent, former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Carlson questioned why the same standards applied to previous impeachment attempts are not being applied to such nuclear considerations. Kent, who resigned earlier this year in protest of the conflict with Iran, expressed concerns regarding the administration's potential direction if conventional military options fail to meet the President's objectives in Iran.
While Trump has not publicly stated he is considering a first-strike nuclear option, the comments follow reports regarding nuclear strategies being developed at the Pentagon. Elbridge Colby, Deputy Secretary of Defense for Policy, recently noted that officials are working to provide the President and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth with ‘reliable and credible nuclear options’.
