Tucumán authorities transfer 12 convicts to Benjamín Paz
The Tucumán Police and the Penitentiary Service conducted an operation on Thursday to transfer 12 convicted individuals to the Benjamín Paz Penitentiary Complex. The move, originating from the Seccional Décima police station, is part of a broader strategy to reduce overcrowding in local police facilities.
According to Inspector Martín Miranda, the transferred individuals are adults convicted of various crimes, including homicide, robbery, aggravated robbery, and drug trafficking. They were previously held in police stations across the East, North, and Capital regional units.
Subdirector of the Penitentiary Service, Diego Leal, stated that the action follows directives from Governor Osvaldo Jaldo and Security Minister Eugenio Agüero Gamboa. Once at the complex, the inmates will undergo a medical examination and enter a closed regime without telephone access, as part of an integral treatment program designed for social reintegration.
