Tucumán health subsidy app tops 127,000 downloads, warns of fraud schemes
The Instituto de Previsión y Seguridad Social de Tucumán (IPSST) reported that its mobile application for the Subsidio de Salud has been downloaded more than 127,000 times, with nearly 140,000 digital tokens generated in July alone. The app, praised by IPSST interventor Elena Hurtado, is intended to improve traceability and security of medical benefits and is supported by the Colegio Médico and the Círculo Médico del Sur.
IPSST also alerted users to a surge in fraudulent attempts on Facebook and Instagram, where impostors request personal or banking data. The agency emphasized that it will never ask for money transfers, verification codes, CBU numbers or other financial details, urging especially older adults to stay vigilant. IPSST is cooperating with the Tucumán police’s cyber‑crime division and the public prosecutor to report and curb these scams. Digital‑literacy outreach through the “IPSST en Territorio” program has helped thousands of seniors, including more than 4,000 over‑75s, download and use the app safely.
