Tucumán hosts international medical students for hospital internships
Medical students from Colombia, Mexico, Italy, and Brazil are participating in a training exchange program within the public health system of Tucumán, Argentina. The initiative is part of the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations (IFMSA) program.
Participants have been rotating through various services at local facilities, including Hospital Ángel C. Padilla, Hospital Centro de Salud, and Hospital Néstor Kirchner, under the guidance of professional tutors. In addition to clinical practice, students visited the Ministry of Public Health's planning area and the Situation Room to learn about epidemiological data analysis and public health strategy design.
Tucumán also served as the host for the General National Assembly of IFMSA Argentina. Local health officials described the exchange as mutually enriching, noting that it allows students to experience a healthcare model focused on community participation and the social context of patients.
