Tucumán launches first Argentine‑origin coffee project for export

The government of Argentina’s Tucumán province and the private company Cabrales have begun a collaborative, experimental programme to produce the country’s first coffee that is cultivated, harvested and processed entirely within Tucumán. Coordinated by the provincial development institute IDEP Tucumán, the project aims to bring the coffee to commercial scale in the medium to long term and to open new export opportunities across Latin America and beyond.

Vice‑president Juan Casañas highlighted the historic roots of coffee growing in the NOA region and noted that recent micro‑entrepreneurs have introduced Guatemalan and Brazilian seed varieties that thrive in Tucumán’s favorable climate. Officials say the initiative will diversify the provincial economy, add value, generate jobs and create a sustainable export market for Argentine‑origin coffee.
