Tucumán reports first week without chikungunya and 50 weeks dengue‑free

The health authorities of Tucumán province announced that the latest epidemiological report recorded its first week with no confirmed chikungunya cases and marked 50 consecutive weeks without any dengue notifications. The province’s decline mirrors a national downward trend in chikungunya after a peak in epidemiological week 16.

At the same time, the provincial influenza surveillance shows low SARS‑CoV‑2 circulation but a steady rise in Influenza A, mainly the H3N2 subtype, along with continued rhinovirus activity. The public‑sector flu‑vaccination campaign has now administered more than 200,000 doses, which the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Luis Medina Ruiz, said “means more than 200,000 people are protected from developing a serious illness.” The ministry emphasized the free vaccine’s availability for high‑risk groups and urged continued preventive measures.
