Tucumán strengthens organ transplantation and waiting list strategies

Health authorities in Tucumán, Argentina, are implementing new strategies to strengthen local organ transplantation capabilities and accelerate patient access to waiting lists. Public Health Minister Luis Medina Ruiz met with specialists from the National Central Unic Coordinator of Ablation and Implantation (INCUCAI) to coordinate these efforts.

Key strategic projects include advancing pediatric renal transplantation and developing a histocompatibility laboratory. During the visit, officials toured Hospital Padilla, Hospital de Niños, and Hospital Néstor Kirchner to evaluate resources and the potential to expand installed capacity for renal transplant patients.

The initiative aims to increase the number of patients who successfully complete the necessary medical studies to enter the renal transplant waiting list, thereby reducing wait times.
