Tucumán sugar cane harvest reaches 58% progress

The sugar cane harvest (zafra) in Tucumán, Argentina, has reached a 58% progress rate, with 14 mills having processed 11,361,082 tons of raw cane. According to data from the Instituto de Promoción del Azúcar y Alcohol de Tucumán (IPAAT), saccharin yields for healthy cane have increased by 5% compared to the same period last year.

Physical sugar production in Tucumán has totaled 850,770 tons, including common white sugar, crude sugar, organic sugar, and refined sugar. Notably, organic sugar production has seen a 136% increase compared to the 2025 harvest at this stage. Alcohol production is also underway with nine active distilleries, producing significant volumes of hydrated alcohol and anhydrous alcohol (bioethanol) for fuel blending.

In the neighboring provinces of Salta and Jujuy, the harvest is 121 days into its cycle. Five mills in these regions have processed 4,771,455 tons of raw cane, representing a 64% progress rate relative to estimated available raw materials. These provinces have produced 267,473 tons of physical sugar and are operating five active distilleries.
