Tucumán Vice Governor Miguel Acevedo hosts Archbishop and enacts tapir protection law

Vice Governor Miguel Acevedo of Tucumán Province received Archbishop Carlos Sánchez at the Casa de Gobierno during a pastoral visit. The meeting, attended by senior provincial officials, highlighted the Church’s call for unity, solidarity and peace in public service. Acevedo praised the visit, noting the Archbishop’s blessing of the government’s work.

Later, Acevedo led an institutional tour of the Horco Molle Experimental Reserve, where he presented Law No. 9985, which declares the tapir (Tapirus terrestris) a Natural Monument of the province. The law aims to protect, research and re‑introduce the species, and was delivered alongside legislators, university officials and reserve staff. Acevedo said, “A law that arises from listening; the legislature that listens can pass better laws, like this one for tapir preservation.”
