Tudeh Party of Iran marks anniversary of political prisoner massacres

The Tudeh Party of Iran has issued a statement marking the 38th anniversary of the mass execution of political prisoners in Iran. The party described the event as a national tragedy that occurred during the latter half of the 1980s.

According to the statement, the executions were carried out by a group referred to as the ‘Death Committee’ to suppress growing public dissatisfaction and consolidate the ruling regime's power following the end of the Iran-Iraq War. The party noted that hundreds of its members, including scientists, philosophers, writers, and workers' representatives, were executed following brief trials.
