Tudor Jurgiu's film wins award at Berlin Film Festival

The film "De capul nostru" (By Our Own Head), directed by Tudor Jurgiu, has been awarded the CICAE Award at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival in the Forum section. The film explores the lives of children left behind in Romania while their parents work abroad, blending themes of adolescence and maturation with the reality of parental migration.

Research by Salvați Copiii România highlights the social impact of this phenomenon. A survey conducted among children with parents working abroad reveals that 58% of these children wish for their parents to return to Romania. Furthermore, 35% reported being treated differently at school due to their family situation, with 71% of those affected noting they faced mockery or unpleasant behavior. Despite the physical distance, 44% of children still identify their parents as the first source of emotional support during difficult times.
