Tudor Team Alinghi sits third ahead of America’s Cup final day

Tudor Team Alinghi enters the final day of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta in Naples in third place overall. The Swiss team currently holds 38 points, trailing second-placed Emirates Team New Zealand by five points, while Luna Rossa leads the standings with 51 points.

Despite facing technical difficulties early in Race Day 2, including hydraulic issues and a chain problem around the foil that delayed their departure, the team secured strong finishes. They placed second in Fleet Race 3 and third in Fleet Race 4. However, shifting breezes and uneven pressure in the afternoon led to fifth and seventh-place finishes in subsequent races.

The regatta, which utilizes monotype AC40 hulls, serves as a testing ground for the 2027 America’s Cup. Skipper Paul Goodison noted the team's progress and cohesion following previous setbacks in Sardinia. The top two teams from the final day will advance to a winner-take-all match-race final.
