Erhürman addressed the controversy after being accused of dishonesty, stating that the photo was taken on the first day of the accident when he was offering condolences to those affected. He rejected the claims of manipulation, asserting, “I am neither ashamed of hugging people to offer my condolences, nor would I descend to such a low state as to resort to lies to claim a photo is artificial intelligence.”
