Tufts University athletics report diverse results in soccer, volleyball, and tennis

Tufts University athletics saw several notable results across multiple programs in late September 2026.

In women's soccer, the No. 5 ranked Tufts Jumbos defeated No. 4 MIT 2-0 in a non-conference match. Waverly Sumner and Maile Lung provided the scoring, while goalkeeper Gigi Edwards secured her 23rd career shutout. The victory ended MIT's unbeaten streak.

The No. 11 Tufts men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) at Bello Field. Despite controlling much of the possession, the Jumbos were unable to break through the WPI defense.

In volleyball, the Tufts women's team secured a 3-0 victory over WPI with scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-22. The team recorded 47 kills during the match, led by Claire Castor with 12 kills.

In men's tennis, the Jumbos performed strongly during the opening day of the ITA New England Regional at Middlebury College. Several players, including Garv Bahl and Stavros Mastrogamvrakis, advanced to the Round of 16 in the singles draws.
