Tugdual Denis leaves Valeurs actuelles editorial leadership

Tugdual Denis has stepped down from his position as editor-in-chief of the French weekly magazine Valeurs actuelles, effective Monday, September 21. The departure follows a decision made in mid-August by the shareholders of Valmonde, the publishing company for the title.

Denis, who took over the editorial leadership in June 2023, had overseen a digital transformation and a shift toward a “liberal-conservative” editorial direction following the magazine's acquisition in late 2025. The publication was sold by the Safa family to a group of investors including billionaire Pierre-Édouard Stérin, Benjamin La Combe, and Alexis Caude.

While Valmonde noted that Denis had expanded the spectrum of sensitivities within the magazine, the specific reasons for his departure were not disclosed, nor has a successor been named. Denis expressed that he remains “deeply attached to the journal.”
