Tuggeranong animal cruelty investigation: Four sheep dead
Four sheep died following an alleged incident of animal cruelty on a rural property in the Tuggeranong region of southern Canberra. According to court documents, intruders allegedly used an angle grinder to cut through a gate padlock and ransacked the property's homestead during the night of September 16-17, 2026.
The intruders are alleged to have mustered eight merino sheep into a holding yard and fired a .22 calibre gun at them. One sheep was killed during the incident, while three others sustained severe injuries—including penetrating wounds, facial trauma, and gunshot trauma—that necessitated euthanasia.
Upon discovering the scene, the property owner reportedly found a sword stabbed into the ground in the yard. Police have arrested 18-year-old Memphis Auld in connection with the incident and seized a knife from a residence during the investigation.
