TUI Cruises to Pass Greek Shore Tax on to Passengers

Greece introduced a tourist levy in July 2025 that requires every cruise passenger who lands on its ports to pay a fee that varies by island and season – up to €20 per person on Mykonos and Santorini during the summer months. TUI Cruises announced it will begin charging the fee directly to passengers through their onboard accounts from the summer of 2027, after having absorbed the cost since the tax’s inception. The company said the amount will appear as a separate line item on the bill and that it has no influence over the fee's level or design.

Other cruise operators have already passed the charge to guests or included it in travel prices, while some, such as Norwegian Cruise Line Holding, continue to cover the cost themselves. The levy is intended to reduce pressure on heavily visited destinations and fund local tourism infrastructure.
