TUI Group expands flight capacity and implements AI search technology
TUI Group is implementing significant operational and technological updates across its business. TUI fly Nederland has announced an expansion for the summer 2027 season, focusing on increasing direct flights and capacity. The airline plans to replace its current fleet of six Boeing 737-8 aircraft with larger Boeing 737-10 models to improve efficiency. Key growth areas include increased capacity to the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao) and a strategic shift toward more direct connections on popular routes.
On the technology front, TUI has rolled out a semantic search function for its UK website, which has resulted in a 28 percent increase in search-to-book conversion rates. This AI-driven tool allows customers to describe their ideal holiday in natural language rather than using traditional filters. TUI management expects to roll this technology out to other markets via its app in the coming months. The company is also leveraging AI to reduce costs in software development and is aiming to increase its share of differentiated products—such as proprietary hotels and brands—from 45 percent to a target of 80 percent to improve margins and visibility in AI-driven search environments.
