Tui Kamikamica retires from rugby league on medical grounds

Melbourne Storm and Fiji international Tui Kamikamica has announced his immediate retirement from rugby league on medical grounds. The 32-year-old prop's career ends following a stroke suffered in March, which required emergency brain surgery to remove a blood clot and subsequent heart surgery.

Despite attempting a return to training, recent specialist advice has determined that Kamikamica can no longer play professionally. This decision ends his aspirations to captain Fiji at the upcoming World Cup.

Kamikamica concludes a decade-long career with the Melbourne Storm, making 142 appearances and contributing to the club's premiership success in 2017 and 2020. He also represented Fiji in 23 Tests. He was recently awarded life membership by the Melbourne Storm in recognition of his contributions to the club.
