Tui joins Galicia's Excellent Markets Network

The San Antonio Market in Tui has officially joined the Red de Mercados Excelentes (Excellent Markets Network) in Galicia. This certification makes it the seventh food market in the region to receive the distinction, joining previous locations such as Tomiño, Vilagarcía de Arousa, Pontedeume, Carballo, Ribeira, and Ponteareas.

Galician officials, including Employment Counselor José González, noted that the accreditation recognizes the market's efforts to modernize and innovate while maintaining tradition and high quality standards. The facility, which opened in late 2024, features modern equipment and a gastronomic space designed to promote local products.

The Xunta de Galicia has established a strategic commercial plan for 2025-2030, aiming to reach 25 certified markets by the end of the period. To support this, the regional government provides specific subsidies for the modernization of food markets, with recent funding allocations reaching 2.3 million euros for the 2026-2027 period.
