Tuškanac cinema hosts Mike Leigh film retrospective
The Tuškanac cinema series is hosting a retrospective dedicated to the work of British filmmaker Mike Leigh throughout the month of September. The program features twelve films that explore social realism, focusing on the lives of ordinary people and the tensions within family and class structures.
The cycle begins on September 1st at 21:00 with Leigh’s debut film, 'Bleak Moments' (1971). Other featured works include 'Vicious Circle' (1983), 'High Hopes' (1988), 'Life Is Sweet' (1990), and the Cannes-winning 'Naked' (1993). The retrospective also covers 'Secrets & Lies' (1996), 'Happy Endings' (1997), 'Miss Performs' (1999), 'All or Nothing' (2002), 'Vera Drake' (2004), and 'Mr. Turner' (2014).
The program concludes with the 2024 film 'Hard Truths', starring Marianne Jean-Baptiste. The screenings will take place at the Surrogate's KIC located on Preradovićeva Street.
