Tulancingo commemorates 109th anniversary of El Santo's birth

The municipality of Tulancingo de Bravo is hosting a series of cultural and patrimonial events to commemorate the 109th anniversary of the birth of Rodolfo Guzmán Huerta, the legendary Mexican luchador known as El Santo.

The celebrations include a photographic exhibition at the Arena Azteca, a floral tribute at the El Santo monument, and special guided tours at the Museo de El Santo. The museum is also formally expanding its historical collection by incorporating 52 of the wrestler's films, establishing itself as a primary audiovisual archive of his cinematic career. El Hijo del Santo is expected to participate in the commemorative activities.

Local accounts also highlight the historical connection between the icon and Tulancingo, noting that Guzmán Huerta spent his early years in the area before moving to Mexico City. Residents and local historians recall his roots in the community, including his early years working in a local shop and his eventual return to perform in improvised arenas within the city.
