Tulcea, Romania – 44‑year‑old woman killed when car veers onto sidewalk

On 6 July 2026 at around 18:00, a 44‑year‑old woman was fatally struck by a car that left the roadway and entered the sidewalk on Isaccei Street in Tulcea, Romania. She was seated on a bench in front of a building when the driver, a 58‑year‑old man from the same municipality, attempted to avoid a vehicle ahead, lost control, and crossed onto the pavement.

The driver tested negative for alcohol. Police opened a criminal investigation for negligent homicide and continue to examine the circumstances of the crash. The victim’s death was confirmed at the scene.
