Tulcea's New Danubius Arena Opens with International Basketball Match
The Compania Națională de Investiții (CNI) has completed the new Danubius Arena, a modern multipurpose hall in Tulcea, Romania. The facility spans over 15,100 m², offers a main arena with a seating capacity of about 4,500 people, a secondary hand‑ball court, underground parking for 78 cars, and extensive media and technical spaces. The arena was built at a cost of 25 million euros.
The venue was inaugurated on 31 July 2024 with a basketball game between Portugal and the Netherlands, part of the FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket 2026 Division B. The opening also featured a match between Romania’s U18 women’s team and Azerbaijan, marking the arena’s first international sporting events.
The new complex is expected to host national and international competitions, cultural events, and community activities, strengthening Tulcea’s role in regional sports and culture.
