Tulio Crespi, Argentine motorsport legend, dies at 88
Tulio Crespi, a legendary figure in Argentine motorsport, has passed away at the age of 88 in Balcarce. Over a career spanning more than six decades, Crespi established himself as a prominent driver, designer, and constructor of competition vehicles.
Known for his artisanal approach to engineering, Crespi’s work significantly influenced national racing categories, including Formula Renault, Turismo Carretera, and TC2000. His most iconic creations include the Tulia 1, the Petiso-Torino, and the Tulia GT. His workshop in Balcarce, established following the advice of Juan Manuel Fangio, produced over 2,000 vehicles and recently gained international attention for constructing replicas for a Netflix series about Ayrton Senna.
Before his death, Crespi left an emotional farewell letter shared by his family on social media. In it, he described himself as a 'worker of iron' and expressed peace, stating, 'I lived 88 years doing exactly what I loved.' His family confirmed that the Crespi factory will continue to operate under the leadership of his children.
