Tulu Mondal assets worth Rs 220 crore seized by Bengal police

West Bengal police have confiscated assets worth approximately Rs 220 crore belonging to absconding stone quarry owner Tulu Mondal, also known as Mohammad Nazibuddin. The seized assets consist of cash and gold recovered from the residences of Mondal, his relatives, and close associates. Investigators report that these individuals confessed to holding the assets on Mondal's behalf.

Police are currently conducting raids on additional properties in Suri town, including a second property linked to Mondal. Beyond the liquid assets, officials have identified roughly 125 acres of land owned directly or indirectly by Mondal, which is expected to significantly increase the total value of the seized property once appraised.

The investigation is also looking into allegations of tax evasion involving the use of fake duplicate carbon copies at stone quarries, potentially involving collusion with state government officials. Mondal remains at large, and authorities have initiated the process for an Interpol Red Corner Notice following a court warrant. While Mondal has sought legal protection through the Calcutta High Court, he has not yet appeared before the court.
