Tulum bus accident kills three and injures dozens

A staff bus transporting employees of the Grand Sirenis hotel overturned early Wednesday morning near the Tulum International Airport in Mexico. The accident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on the federal highway as the vehicle was traveling toward the Riviera Maya hotel zone.

Preliminary reports indicate that three people were killed, having been trapped inside the vehicle. Approximately 20 to 30 people sustained injuries, with several reported to be in serious condition. Emergency responders, including the Red Cross and municipal services, transported the wounded to hospitals in Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Tulum.

The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation. While the driver was reportedly taken to a hospital for questioning, some reports suggest the driver may have left the scene immediately following the crash. Authorities have cordoned off the area as the State Attorney General's Office conducts an investigation.
