Tulungagung health officials find sanitation lapses in MBG program

The Tulungagung District Health Office has identified several sanitary and procedural violations at Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) following six suspected cases of food poisoning linked to the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.

Investigations revealed that the SPPG facilities involved in the suspected poisoning cases had not obtained Hygiene Sanitation Feasibility Certificates (SLHS). In the case of SPPG Pakisrejo in Rejotangan District, officials noted that the entity only applied for the certificate on July 31, 2026, four days after the first suspected poisoning incident occurred. While the facility had prepared documents previously, they had not been submitted to the Health Office for processing due to necessary corrections.

In addition to the lack of certification, monitoring and environmental health inspections found that standard operating procedures (SOP) for food processing and distribution were not being optimally implemented. A significant issue identified was the lack of separation between clean and dirty pathways for ingredients and food, which increases the risk of cross-contamination. Currently, facilities were found to be using a single pathway for both food distribution and other activities.
