Tumane Monastery celebrates feast of Saints Zosimus and Jacob

Orthodox believers are celebrating the feast day of Saints Zosimus and Jacob of Tumane on August 21. The saints' relics are housed in the Tumane Monastery near Golupac, a site often referred to as the ‘Ostrog on the Danube’ due to the thousands of pilgrims who visit annually.

Saint Zosimus is traditionally associated with the Sinaites and is linked to a legend involving Miloš Obilić, who reportedly accidentally wounded him during a hunt. Saint Jacob, born Radoje Arsović, was a highly educated diplomat with two doctorates who abandoned his secular career to pursue monastic life.

In addition to services at Tumane, religious observances are held at other locations, including the Holy Trinity Church at the Lower Ostrog Monastery in Montenegro, where Archimandrite Sergius led the liturgy. The feast day is marked by prayer, the lighting of candles, and local traditions such as sharing food with the poor.
