Tumpat woman rescues paralyzed brother from house fire

A woman in Tumpat successfully rescued her partially paralyzed brother from a house fire in Kampung Kubu, Telaga Bata. Siti Nor Azizan Mustafa, 40, used a wooden stick to pry open a metal window after hearing her brother, Muhammad Fazli Mustafa, 35, calling for help from inside the burning building.

Muhammad Fazli sustained burns to his abdomen and experienced breathing difficulties; he was subsequently treated at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in Kota Bharu. The woman’s husband, Muhamad Talmizi Razali, 41, also suffered burns to his legs and back while attempting to assist in the rescue.

The fire, which occurred around 3:00 PM, destroyed approximately 70 percent of the semi-permanent residence and consumed four motorcycles. The Pengkalan Kubor Fire and Rescue Station dispatched 13 personnel to the scene. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
