Tumu authorities issue relocation ultimatum for road construction
The landlord and sectional heads of Tumu in the Sissala East Municipality have issued a two-week ultimatum to owners of structures located along certain roads to relocate. This directive is intended to facilitate upcoming road construction, specifically targeting buildings and stores situated between the Tumu roundabout and Loe Road.
The infrastructure project aims to enhance the cross-border transportation of goods and services between Ghana and Burkina Faso. Baba Tommy Kanton, the Tumu landlord, emphasized that the intervention is strictly for regional development and urged residents not to seek extensions.
Isaah Mohammed Bataglia, the Member of Parliament for Sissala East, stated that while the relocation presents difficulties, the municipality's broader development needs must be prioritized. He pledged to coordinate with the contractor, Mawums Construction Limited, to mitigate the impact on affected residents.
