Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Cancer Centre becomes international tongue cancer hub

The Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Cancer Centre (PKTAAB) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has emerged as an international reference center for tongue cancer treatment, attracting patients from the ASEAN region and beyond. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir noted that the center's success demonstrates USM's capability as both a medical research institution and a specialized treatment hub.

In addition to tongue cancer, PKTAAB possesses expertise in treating other cancers, including breast cancer. The center utilizes advanced technologies such as Radiative Hyperthermia and the Linear Accelerator (LINAC) EVO, which incorporates artificial intelligence (AI). These tools, alongside adaptive radiotherapy and high-precision brachytherapy, are intended to increase treatment accuracy and reduce complications, positioning the center alongside leading global medical facilities.
