Tunç Çam, 13, dies in Hatay auto repair shop explosion

A 13-year-old apprentice, Tunç Çam, died following an explosion at an auto repair shop in the Samandağ district of Hatay. The incident occurred on September 8 while Çam was performing maintenance on a vehicle's engine.

Reports indicate that a gas explosion within the vehicle's air conditioning system caused a component to break loose and strike Çam in the head. Emergency services and gendarmerie were dispatched to the scene, where medical teams confirmed his death.

Local authorities and gendarmerie have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Technical examinations will focus on whether the incident was caused by mechanical failure, pressure issues, or electrical systems. The boy had been working as an apprentice at the shop for approximately two months.
