Tunceli environmentalists protest high-voltage line construction

Environmental activists organized a protest and nature walk in the Salördek Forests of Tunceli to oppose damage caused by high-voltage line construction in the Pülümür Valley. The demonstration was called by the Munzur Environmental Association.

Yusuf Topçu, representing the association, stated that the project, carried out by Memsan Enerji AŞ, is causing significant ecological destruction under the guise of renewing existing lines. He reported that heavy machinery and the construction of access roads on mountain slopes are uprooting centuries-old oak, walnut, ash, and juniper trees, which he claims are essential for preventing soil erosion and landslides.
