Tunceli implements indefinite ban on mountain goat hunting

The Tunceli Governorate has issued a permanent and indefinite ban on the hunting of mountain goats within the province's borders. Governor Şefik Aygöl announced the decision, stating that the ban is intended to allow the animals to continue their existence peacefully in their natural habitats.

Mountain goats are considered symbolic species of the region, particularly within the Munzur Valley and its surrounding steep cliffs. Beyond their ecological importance for biodiversity, the animals hold a special place in the local culture and beliefs, where they are often regarded as sacred. The decision follows long-standing discussions regarding nature and life rights, as previous hunting attempts had drawn opposition from local citizens and environmental organizations.
