Agricultural initiatives transform idle lands in Çorum, Düzce, and Tunceli

Various agricultural initiatives across Turkey are transforming unproductive or idle lands into productive farming sites through state support and diversification.

In Çorum's Dodurga district, the Çorum Special Provincial Administration has converted 120 decares of unproductive land into a production facility. Following soil analysis and two years of work, the area now supports over 30 plant varieties and 20 fruit types, including medicinal and aromatic plants. The administration has applied for the brand name ‘Aromis’ to market products like strawberry, rosehip, and aronia.

In Düzce's Gümüşova district, officials from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry inspected facilities in Yeşilyayla Village. Current operations include 800 blueberry plants grown in pots using drip irrigation, while preparations are underway to plant 12,000 aronia plants across 38 decares. The visit also included an inspection of a local horse farm housing 18 horses.

In Tunceli's Çemişgezek district, Ayşe Balcı utilized the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s Special Afforestation Project to convert 32,000 square meters of idle land into an almond orchard. The orchard contains 1,200 almond trees, with an expected harvest of approximately 6 tons this year.
