Tuncer Bakırhan outlines next steps for Turkey's political process

DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan has outlined the expected progression of the ongoing political process in Turkey. He characterized the first stage of the process as focusing on achieving peace and the cessation of armed conflict.

Bakırhan stated that the second stage must prioritize democracy and the recognition of Kurdish rights through legal and political reforms. He emphasized that while a rapid solution to the long-standing Kurdish issue is unrealistic, the process should not be unnecessarily prolonged.

Additionally, Bakırhan noted that as the process advances, issues regarding the status of prisoners and the return of individuals living abroad are expected to become central topics. He highlighted the importance of establishing the necessary political and legal conditions to facilitate these developments.
