Tunde Kelani honored by Nigerian Academy of Letters

The Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) held its 28th Convocation and induction ceremony at the University of Lagos, honoring several distinguished scholars and practitioners.

Renowned filmmaker and cinematographer Tunde Kelani was conferred with the NAL Award of Excellence in Humanistic Practice. The award recognizes his four-decade career in storytelling, specifically his contributions to elevating Nigerian languages, culture, and history through cinema. Kelani, founder of Mainframe Film and Television Productions, is noted for works such as Saworoide and Maami.

Additionally, the Academy invested several new Regular Fellows, including Professor Oladele Abiodun Balogun. Balogun, a prominent contemporary philosopher, was recognized for his extensive research in African philosophy, Yoruba philosophical thought, and indigenous epistemology.
