Tundu Lissu reports DCI refusal to testify in treason case
Tundu Lissu, the national chairman of CHADEMA, has informed the High Court of Tanzania that the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), CP Ramadhan Kingai, has refused to testify as a witness for the defense in his ongoing treason case.
Lissu, who is representing himself, stated that during a meeting prior to the court session, Kingai expressed an unwillingness to provide testimony on the specific areas Lissu had identified. Lissu further claimed that Kingai indicated other high-ranking officials, including Inspector General of Police Camillius Wambura and Chief of Defence Forces General Jacob John Mkunda, would also be unwilling to testify on his behalf upon their return to the country.
Following these developments, Lissu informed the three-judge panel, led by Judge Dunstan Ndunguru, that he has officially closed his defense. The case may now proceed to final submissions.
