Tunis Archdiocese delegation concludes visit to Mazara del Vallo

A delegation from the Archdiocese of Tunis, led by Archbishop Nicolas Lhernould, has concluded a visit to the Diocese of Mazara del Vallo in Sicily. The visit is part of a 26-year pastoral twinning program designed to foster mutual understanding, hospitality, and the sharing of religious experiences between the two Mediterranean communities.

The delegation visited several locations, including Mazara del Vallo, Salemi, Marsala, Torretta Granitola, and Trapani. During the trip, participants engaged in public discussions at the Cathedral of Mazara del Vallo and met with local communities and lay organizations.

The program highlights the presence of a small Christian community in Tunisia, which numbers approximately 30,000 people within a population of 12 million. Participants emphasized the role of the twinning in building bridges between different social and cultural realities through faith and shared humanity.
