Tunis Re announces capital increase amid regulatory scrutiny in Tunisia
Tunis Re is undertaking a strategic capital increase of 100 million dinars to double its social capital from 100 million to 200 million dinars. According to General Manager Lamia Ben Mahmoud, this operation is designed to strengthen the reinsurer's financial capacity, support international development, and improve retention capabilities. The company reported a 2.2% increase in revenue and a 44% rise in net profit as of June 30, 2026, providing a foundation for its 2026-2030 business plan.
Separately, the Tunisian Financial Market Council (CMF) has initiated legal proceedings against several companies on the Tunis Stock Exchange for failing to meet legal deadlines for publishing 2026 first-semester financial statements. The regulator noted that 20 out of 75 listed companies—approximately 27% of the market—have missed these deadlines, with some delays described as ‘largely excessive.’ The CMF emphasized that timely financial disclosure is essential for investor rights and market transparency.
