Tunisia advances export initiatives and strengthens economic ties with Austria
Tunisia is implementing several initiatives to bolster its economy and international trade. Minister of Commerce Samir Abid announced the launch of regional awareness meetings for the ‘Easy Export’ national program. This initiative aims to facilitate exports for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and artisans through the postal network. The meetings will be held in Tunis, Sousse, Sfax, Gabès, and Kef to explain procedures, address challenges, and identify regional products with high export potential.
Separately, at the Tunisia-Austria Business Forum, Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh highlighted the strengthening economic ties between Tunisia and Austria. He noted that 26 Austrian-participating companies in Tunisia represent 502 million dinars in investment and 24,469 jobs. Bilateral trade has grown significantly, rising from 603.7 million dinars in 2019 to 1.103 billion dinars in 2025. Abdelhafidh encouraged further partnerships in high-value sectors, technology transfer, and innovation, while presenting Tunisia’s 2026-2030 development plan focusing on energy, water, and infrastructure.
